
I had a thought a few years ago, I really wanted to go travelling but I couldn’t always be doing so. So what makes me so happy when travelling and how can I bring it to me when I am home?
I started with thinking about the activities I do while travelling and how can I do more of that when I am home as well. I like to do lots of walking around a new city and explore new things, I need to make time to explore my own city. I believe we sometimes do not explore our home cities enough.
Stay curious and try new things
Spend a day walking around your city, try some new foods, walk a different path than normal, have a staycation, go out for a hike, try new activities like stand up paddle boarding. If you were visiting you home city for the first and only time, what would you want to do or try?
I also thought about the way I feel when I am travelling, for this you will need to think about your ‘why’. Obviously, there are just some things of travel that can not be replaced, but I thought about the freedom and fun that I have on my trips. I can definitely be more active in doing things which create that feeling at home!
Adding fun into my daily routine, this may sound stupid, but my first step was rediscovering what I actually found fun! I love to dance, so I did a casual dance class. I laugh at funny TV Shows, so I love watching something to laugh.
I am still not the best at adding these things into my everyday, things can get in the way, life can get busy. But I know that if I prioritise these things I will feel more energised and my soul will be filled. I need to remember to make an effort to do the things I love, even in the routine and chaos of daily life.
