Get with the right bank
I am a big believer in being with the right bank in the first place, even when not traveling. It is 2025, why are we still paying any kind of fees?
Get a bank that you can use overseas with no fees and a good conversion rate (I checked the conversation rate against Revolute, and Up was a few cents better).
If you are based in Aus, I HIGHLY recommend Up Bank. I have been with them for years now and they should seriously hire me the amount I rave about them.
Get cash back (free money!)
If you are using sites like Booking.com and Expedia to book your travel, and even sites like Amazon for your travel gadgets, why not get free money for doing nothing?
ShopBack is the cash back site I use, you can set it as a chrome extension and it will pop up if you are ever on a site where you are able to get cash back. Easy!
Free walking tours
Well, they are tip only, so not completely free. My Go to is GuruWalk, but there are many of them!
Amazing locals, who can tell you a lot of great information about the location. I have done these in a lot of cities all over the world and highly recommend!
Bonus tip!
Get travel insurance!
The thing you don’t want to ever use, but is absolutely essential. Travel insurance may seem unnecessary when you are purchasing it before your trip because “nothing will happen”.
This it is thing that can save you a lot of money and also stress in a bad situation. I see this in my work (travel consultant) every single day, someone has had something happen but they haven’t got the insurance. Always be covered!

If you need a recommendation, I have personally used World Nomads in the past and they were great! Click here to see more! Always read the PDS before purchasing and ensure it is right for you!
