Google Translate
I love this app, you can use your camera on signs, menus ect and it will translate it on your screen. You can speak into the app and it will speak back. But one of the best parts, you can download a language and use it when you do not have data or wifi.
Google Maps
There are plenty of offline map options these days, but I have found Google Maps to be the best. You can download any selection of the map to your phone to use when you are not on data or wifi. But for when you do have data, the reviews are a great reference while exploring new places.
Currency
This app I have found to be very accurate and it also works offline without any data or wifi needed. There are a few different apps, but this one is the one I have found to work the best.
Booking.com
I love using Booking.com, I love there rewards system as well. You can also check them out online, I have linked my aff link here: Booking.com/tayscaife
Widely used as the primary communication tool internationally, it is important to download. A lot of tour companies or businesses will take bookings via WhatsApp and if you are ever part of a group, it is likely there will be a WhatsApp group chat. It is just like text, but can be used world wide as it uses data/wifi, not your roaming.
TripIt
I love being organised and having my full itinerary in one place. You can email your flights through and the app automatically generates them into the app. You can add activities and accomodation, send to others or invite them to collaborate and so much more!
Rome2Rio
This is my go to app for any transportation. This app will tell you how to get anywhere in a super easy and user friendly way. Transport in a new city can be super confusing, so an app like this is game changing. It is also great if you are in the planning stages of your trip and need to ensure your plans are possible.
